The Hashmanis Foundation awards two gold medals every year to senior Ophthalmologists who have helped shape the profession, taught students, introduces new technologies and overall enhanced the profession. The first gold medal was awarded to Professor Javed Niazi, who has trained over 50 Ophthalmologists, while the second gold medal was awarded to Professor Naz Brohi, who helped developed the corneal transplantation practice for the poor in the country. This year in the 5th PIO program, the third gold medal was rewarded to Dr. Fawad Rizvi.
